Yes. Denim dungarees and bib overalls generally describe the same garment: trousers connected to a front bib and held in place by shoulder straps. “Dungarees” is the wording used more commonly in British English, while “overalls” is more common in American English.
There is one useful distinction. In some workwear contexts, “overalls” can also refer to full-body coveralls with sleeves, whereas dungarees almost always mean the bib-and-strap style. The word “dungaree” originally referred to a durable cotton cloth before becoming associated with the garment itself.
What Sizes Do the Wallace Overalls Come In?
The Wallace is available in XS–L only. The full waist measurement runs from approximately 39.5 inches in XS to 45.5 inches in L, while the hip measurement runs from about 43 to 49 inches. There is currently no XL. Check the measurement table above carefully before choosing your size.
How Do the Straps Adjust?
The shoulder straps use metal buckles to change their effective length, allowing you to raise or lower where the bib sits on the torso. Adjust both sides evenly until the front panel lies flat without pulling upward through the rise. AlphaStyle does not currently publish the exact adjustment range, so the product measurements should remain your main sizing reference.
How Should I Size Overalls?
Do not judge overalls by waist size alone. Check the hip and thigh measurements as well, because those areas determine how comfortably the lower half sits when you move or layer clothing underneath. The Wallace already has a relaxed wide leg, so you shouldn’t normally need to size up to add leg volume.
How Many Pockets Are There?
The Wallace has four main pockets: two deep angled hand pockets at the hips and two 3D flap cargo pockets positioned lower on the thighs. The upper pair gives you quick hand access, while the larger low-slung pockets provide more enclosed storage and contribute to the garment’s carpenter-inspired construction.
How Do These Compare to the Aiyana Wide Leg Jeans?
Both use faded indigo and a full leg, but their construction differs completely. The Wallace adds a bib, adjustable straps, side closures, and cargo pockets, making the garment read as a complete outfit. The Aiyana wide-leg jeans are conventional trousers and leave far more freedom in how you style the upper half.
How Do I Wash Vintage-Washed Denim?
Fasten the buckles and closures before washing so the metal hardware cannot repeatedly strike the fabric. Turn the overalls inside out, wash cold without bleach, and hang them to dry. The existing sun-bleached patina will continue developing with wear and washing, so avoid unnecessary heat if you want to preserve the current contrast.
